Was here on 25 November 2023 and when I arrived at 11.54am, the queue was long but not insane. Later, the queue behind me was much longer.
Ordered the set B and requested for duck breast meat rice (S$5) whereby the duck meat and rice are separate. Also ordered add on of braised pork (S$2).
Unfortunately the braised duck bones are not deboned, hence there might be some bone fragments. However the braised duck is awesome - tender and there wasn’t any gamey taste. Loved the braised gravy here which is of a watery texture but not overly salty.
Had requested for lean cut for the braised pork but most of it was fatty. However this wasn’t oily and only gripe is portion is quite little. Soup is totally delicious - very nostalgic and flavorful.
Indeed this is a very good plate of teochew braised duck rice and can understand why the queues are long during lunch peak hours.
my dad was excited about coming here to try the teochew braised duck after seeing it on youtube. he got us excited too. but honestly we were underwhelmed by the taste after the all the hype and accolades this stall has. the meat wasn’t tender like we had expected, but quite dry and a bit tough. the flavour didn’t seep into the meat as much as i thought it would have based on the outer appearance of the duck. the sauce is tasty (but quite salty) so it pairs well with the rice. cabbage is soft and not bad. overall, it’s alright but we wouldn’t come back specially nor queue for this.
One of the best duck rice around. Have been eating this ever since they started their business in the CBD.
Duck is well marinated and salty making it really appetising.
Would recommend trying the vegetables as well. Really good palate cleanser mid-meal.
Soup has more of a ‘ginger’ taste, personally don’t really like it but if ginger is something you like then would recommend.
Braised Pork Rice. Came after lunch hours and their braised duck was sold out! There goes my default combination of braised pork and duck. Luckily their braised pork is quite shiok on its own.
June 2023:
Braised Duck Rice with Braised Pork Belly and Stewed Cabbage. Not my top 3 but definitely my top 5 braised duck stalls in Singapore. They sell out pretty fast. Braised Duck and Pork Belly has to go in hand in hand.
I really ❤️ the teochew braised duck 🍚 here, it's one of the best i have tasted in 🇸🇬. But there are alot of hawker centre that have teochew braised duck. But this is just my own opinion and preference. The reason i like this place is because the braised duck soy sauce reminds me of Cantonese (home cook) style . The dark soy sauce has a sweet and fragrance taste 😋. I'm starting to wonder if this is teochew style 😄.
😊 eating braised duck
Decent duck rice, the meat is very tender, though the sauce is too salty for me.
Thick juicy little ducklings served by Tai Dong himself. Go early to beat the queue or you might get the runt of the litter or because they only operate till their last duck runs out!
The ducks weren’t dry, zup was tasty af you won’t even complain. Tofu was also great but that should be a given. How can you even mess up tofu, right? However, the chili is vinegary and not at all spicy. That was my only qualm.
One of my favourite food stalls here. Always long queue. Authentic teochew braised duck rice. Must try when you are here.
